Alar reduction

What is alar reduction?

Even with a sharp nose, if the alae of the nose are wide, the nose and the overall face may appear flat. If this is the case, then you may a good candidiate for alar reduction surgery.

​Moreover, there are cases there the alae constrict and stick, since the cartilages at the tip of the nose are soft, resulting in difficulty with breathing when taking deep breaths. It is therefore important to consider the state of the cartilage at the tip of the nose before surgery.

Incision is made along the border between the alae and the cheeks, excess is cut off, and sutured. It is crucial to ensure that the scar is invisible, and that the shape of the nostrils does not appear awkward.
