Rhinoplasty (2)
The ideal nose, for women, is consdered to be where the nostrils are not visible and the tip of the nose is lightly raised, and for men, is when the nose extends from the glabella to the tip in a straight line. There is a general misconception that a high nose is always ideal, but in fact the most beautiful nose is one that best complements one's face.

At D&A, we consider the balance of the nose with the rest of the face with utmost importance. Book your appointment now for a consultation.

Snub nose

What is a snub nose?

A snub nose is when the angle between the tip of the nose and the lips are over 110 degrees. As a result the tip of the nose is raised and the nostrils are visible. The nose in this case is generally short.

Method of operation

1. The cartilage at the tip of the nose is extended (the cartilage that is raised at the top is extended and fixed to the bottom)

2. The tip of the nose is raised (nasal septal cartilage etc. is placed on top of the well-fixed cartilage at the tip of the nose)

3. The dorsum of the nose is raised (since the nose is usually flat, silicone is placed ONLY on dorsum of the nose)

Short nose

What is a short nose?

A short nose is either when the part covering the top of the nostrils is longitudinally short and the nostrils are visible from the front, or when the portion of the face taken up by the nose is relatively small, due to the lack of nasal growth.

Operation methods

There are primarily two methods:

  • The first method is chondroplasty, where the top portion of the alar cartilage is cut and the "legs" are fixed to the bottom. This makes the cartilage appear longer.

  • The second method is cartilage transplant, whereby if the elongation of the tip of the nose is not enough, the addition of cartilage between the nasal septal cartilage and the ala can elongate the nose.

Saddle nose

What is a saddle nose??

A saddle nose, named after its similarity in appearance to saddles placed on horses when horse riding, is usually congenital, but can also be due to the collapse of parts of the nasal septum following childhood injury or operations on the nose (ENT and others).

Method of operation

  • Congenital saddle nose: often the height difference between the tip of the nose and the dorsum of the nose is great. Therefore, rather than increasing the height of the tip of the nose, its shape is made more prominent, then the dorsum of the nose is augmented using a graft.

  • Saddle nose due to trauma/injury: similar to hooked nose surgery, but the area protruding like a mass is repaired first, then the dorsum of the nose is augmented, so that a smooth and beautiful nose can be made.

Arrow nose

What is an arrow nose?

An arrow nose is where the tip of the nose is elongated and sagging, thus its angle with the lips is smaller, and the lips appear as if they are sticking out.

Method of operation

The reason the tip of the nose appear longer is either because of the growth of the nasal septal cartilage, or the alar cartilages at the tip of the nose are sagging. Therefore, the cartilages affected are surgically corrected.

There are two ways of correcting an arrow nose. One is by fixing the alar cartilages to the nasal septal cartilage (alar chondroplasty). The other is to cut the end of the nasal septal cartilage if it is too long (nasal septoplasty).
